A break in the weather!

There was a nice break in the weather today so we headed to King City for a new volkswalk. The walk led through a new development with a nice park of play structures and tennis and basketball courts. The homes are built with an alley going down the back of them for the garages. It made a nice view from the front--a steady line of homes, many with front porches. It brought to mind days gone bay. I could almost picture a summer evening with parents and grandparents relaxing on wicker chairs watching the children playing kick-the-can or riding bicycles.

Then we headed into the 55 and older section of town. There we saw Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip and King George then we crossed Royalty, parkway, that is. We passed the King City Golf Course with its close-cut greens waiting the next foursome. The walk ended with a short jaunt across 99W to the parking lot with the waiting van. It was a nice break from walking on the treadmill or in the rain.

That sounds very nice. I need to get out and walk with the pups...longer than five minutes. (smiling) We have a treadmill and I get on it in spurts, but should be more determined. Enjoying nature is so healthy....and reminds us of what we should be thankful for.

I need to get out more too! Problem is, it hasn't rained here since last August, the wind is blowing hard a dry, and everytime I go outside I come back in sneezing and my skin itches from all the dirt blowing around in the air. It's miserable in Texas right now and we desperately need a lot of rain. We have just been declared a National disaster!

So I will stay in the house as much as is humanly possible and lay on the floor doing leg lifts and crunches, and try very hard not to get cabin fever!

Nice post. :)

Juanita, the rain is supposed to stop for the whole of next week. I bet you'll be glad.

Gayle, time to do your rain dance. It sure is bad in Texas. I lived through a seven year drought in California and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Suzie: I love walking, especially the endorphin rush afterwards! A treadmill does it in a pinch, but outdoors is the way to go!

Gayle: I keep praying for rain for you and Texasfred. When we have a clear day, I think about you and hope you're getting our rain!

Patrick: I am sure you are disappointed by the weather, but don't worry, it'll be back. For now, the dog and & I just got back from a sunny walk!

It is so nice to find a sister and a kindred spirit...a walker. I started seriously walking last summer and I love it. I don't like walking on the treadmill so much, but I feel so good afterwards.

Oregon is such a bee-utiful place to be. My mother-in-law and brother-in-law live just over the Oregon border in Vancouver area. We don't get up there very often because it is a 13 hour drive for us, but it sure is bee-utiful.
