Uh-oh! HELP!

Help!  Advice and reassurance needed.

My left ankle has been stiff for a couple of weeks.  I sprained it last winter and then rolled it in November.  I took really good care of it.  RICE was key.  KT tape was on it for several days.  Everything was back to normal until the last couple of weeks when it started feeling stiff and sore.  I finally decided it was referred from my heal.  I decided it was probably plantar faciitis.  I started icing and rolling with a golf ball.  It was feeling better.  Then the weird thing happened this morning.  My weight was on it and I turned a quarter turn.  OUCH!  Quick, sharp pain.  But it was gone as quickly as it arrived.  After some stretching and icing, it was fine.  Then this evening, I put weight on it and the sudden pain was back.  And it still aches.  I have it braced at the moment.

So, what do you think?  Do I just need to take a couple of days off?  Or should I head to the doctor?

I would give it a day or two, but if it still hurts to put weight on it, then a trip to the blood-letter might be in order.

I agree- rest and ice a day or two and then reassess. I am SORRY! Also...wierd...I twisted an ankle in Jan last year, then it bugged me again about 6=8 weeks later...But i was marathon training. I wonder if there is scar tissue that just "broke up" ?

Awk!!! I have an issue with my left ankle; I sprained it many MANY years ago (3 days before I was to run Portland...like back in 1999, thus the pull to run it again when I did with you, it was tormenting me that I never got to run it - ha) and I get pain cropping up now and then...but nothing piercing.

As you know, I just went to the doc and he told me my heel issue is PF and I had no symptoms in my ankle whatsoever. But I had a million other symptoms, which varied from month to month, and PF was the LAST thing I ever thought this was....so who really knows! But when it's really sharp pain like that, it kinda tells me it might be Achilles Tendonitis. ????

Hope you're feeling better soon. Maybe if you can, get in to see a physical therapist or a doc for an xray to rule out some of the bad things.
