Sunday Song

I was listening to the radio last evening and heard this song. The lyrics touched me so I had to post it for my Sunday hymn.

Jesus, Take The Wheel

She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati
On a snow white Christmas Eve
Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy with the baby in the backseat
Fifty miles to go and she was running low on faith and gasoline
It been a long hard year
She had a lot on her mind and she didn't pay attention
She was going way to fast
Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes
She didn't even have time to cry
She was sooo scared
She threw her hands up in the air

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can't do this all on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel

It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder
And the car came to a stop
She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock
And for the first time in a long time
She bowed her head to pray
She said I'm sorry for the way
I've been living my life
I know I've got to change
So from now on tonight

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can't do this all my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I'm on

Oh, Jesus take the wheel
Oh, I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I'm on
From this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel
Oh, take it, take it from me
Oh, why, oh

That's a good song, off Carrie Underwood's album. It's been getting a lot of play both on CCM stations and mainstream country.

If you like her, look up Rascal Flats or Sawyer Brown.

I'm not a fan of "American Idol" and couldn't care less that Carrie Underwood won it last year, but based on this song, I think they made an excellent choice. It's quite touching.

Truth~ I don't like country music. I heard it on the Christian station. But I do like Carrie Underwood and am a closet fan of American Idol.

Shoprat: I think I say this prayer so often that God has mynumber on speed dial.

Mike: Thanks for stopping by. I don't think I've seen you around here before.

How strange. While traveling to a destination Saturday we heard this song on the radio. On the way back we heard it again. Now you cite it on your blog.

I think the Lord is trying to tell me something :) ...

Stranger yet, this happened to me about 12 years ago. I won't go into the story, and I didn't have a baby in the back seat, but I was driving and hit a sheet of black ice on an overpass at approximately 10:00 pm, lost complete control of the car, so I just let go of everything, curled up on the front seat and prayed. After spinning around and hitting the siderail, hard, the car finally came to a stop. Car totalled out, but we didn't have a scratch on us.

I haven't heard this song yet, but want to. Reading the lyrics sent chills up my spine. Thanks! :)

This song tells my story. I'd never paid much attention to Carrie Underwood, but heard this on the radio a while back and went to buy the cd the next day.

I'm so glad I let Him have the wheel back.
